For years I’d wanted to replace my old gas furnace with a heat pump. It was from the 1980s, undoubtedly inefficient, and most of all I wanted to get fossil fuels out of my home.

I invited three local contractors to give me estimates, but I didn’t get the impression any of them were familiar with the new technology, and the estimates came back wildly different. That lack of confidence kept me from moving forward, until I learned about a state program offering rebates for energy upgrades. It came with a list of approved contractors, and luckily I chose Blanca Electric Homes.

I immediately felt comfortable with them. They’d done many heat pumps and used installers who knew the equipment. The work was scheduled quickly, and before I knew it my old furnace and gas meter were gone and the new system was in.

So far I’m very happy with the heat pump, and I’m looking forward to having AC as the summers get hotter. I highly recommend Blanca. They made the whole process painless.

For nearly 30 years I heated my house with a 1970s furnace and a wood stove. When the wind blew, the pilot light would go out, and I’d lie awake worrying it would blow up the house. Plenty of winter mornings I was up at 4 to light a fire.

We have a 50 year old family cabin in La Veta. We’d only ever used it in the summer. As our kids got older we wanted to spend more time down there, which meant making it work year round.

Now that we’ve been living comfortably in this old house through a very hot summer, our greatest appreciation is how uniformly cool and evenly temperatured our two story home is. It was built in 1903. Such a difference from our propane furnace with no cooling function!

We are so glad we invested in the system. We love lower utility bills and a more comfortable home.
